The Eternal Size Question
by Dejah T. Rubel

What’s the average dick size? I’m 23 and mine is 5-5.5”. Do you think that’s small?  What size should it be? Are there any ways to make it bigger besides pills?—Chris

After hearing several varients of this question, I am touched that my largest audience can speak up and ask a question so close to their hearts and self-esteem. So, this month’s column is dedicated to determining how Junior measures up.

The short answer, Chris, is that most men fall between 5.5-6” with their girth ranging from 4-5.5”. African men tend to be a little bigger—by about an inch—and Asian men a little smaller. So, according to Master’s and Johnson and the Hite Report, you’re fairly normal and have nothing to worry about, assuming you’re measuring correctly.

By correctly, I mean that you haven’t added any extra inches. Like women stuffing their bras, men tend to add 1-2 inches to their size. So, Chris, if you’re quoting a ballpark figure of 5” when really it’s a bit smaller than that, you might be slightly smaller than average. This doesn’t mean you “should” be 6” any more than knowing that the average woman is a size 14 should impel Paris Hilton to actually eat something. Penises come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so, like fingerprints, each one is special and unique.

If you’re concerned about performance, however, rest assured that for most people, especially women, it’s not the size of the ship, it’s the motion of the ocean. In fact, more women orgasm via oral stimulation as opposed to vaginal penetration, so developing that part of the show will take you far in your sexual pursuits. This dyke won’t steer you wrong there.

If you really do want to try and make it bigger, there are a few products on the market that can help. I’ve never heard of any of the pills working, but a penis pump can grant you 1-3” more in length. They cost $20 to about $60. Unfortunately, pumps are rather large toys and must be used after the penis is erect, but before penetration. This means that, although playing with a pump can be fun for you and a close partner, you may not want to demonstrate its effectiveness during a one-night stand.

The pump works by covering the erect penis and adding suction to it within an enclosed container. Over successive pumps, the suction increases and more blood flows into the penis, causing minor swelling. Be sure to pump slowly and stay within your limits; if you pump too long, you can pain or bruising. Once the penis is swollen, you release the suction and find you may have gained an inch or two in length as well as additional sensitivity. A less drastic option in the toy department is a penis extender. Usually, this comes with a sleeve and adds a solid rubber 1-2” onto the tip of your penis. I’ve never experienced one, but they don’t look practical for rapid sexual movements.

A couple of simple changes can result in a larger-looking penis: shaving and weight loss. Shaving may be annoying to maintain but, trust me, women will appreciate it during oral sex. I also recommend this because it helps you spot STDs. Weight loss, too, can help you appear to gain a couple of inches. There’s no good formula for how much weight for how many inches, but I have friends who have gained an inch or two while they’ve lost weight. I chalk it up to their waistlines receeding. Regardless, it’s a good excuse to play sports, right?

Personally, Chris, I think you’re fine and don’t need any treatments. If you’re worried, work on your oral skills and the ability to be inventive in bed. She’ll probably appreciate that more, and there’s less chances of her finding your pump stashed under your bed. Aren’t you worried enough about those copies of Maxium you can’t open anymore?A2P
